The Water Cathedral

2013

The Water Cathedral is an interactive experiential pavilion dedicated to celebrating design through, with and for Water. The project is conceived as three spatial and experiential pivots, a “field” of public engagement, reflection and gaze; a habitable pedestal which houses temporal functions as a “node”, and thirdly the “waterfall crystal” which hovers midair with cascading water/media walls.

Framed as a temporary educational structure, in a resource scarce climate and limited local understanding of the delivery of pavilions, the water cathedral is as much an institutional as well as a design experiment to test the limits of local government coordination and support.
